A. Research/Discovery– Cancer and the effect of hereditary traits. A project that would look at cell division and genetics with a focus on cancer within families and the connection between cancer and inheritance of traits.
Possible products could include presentations or blogs achieved through research and interviews with family, friends and health care professionals.
B. Build/Display- Karyotypes of various human disorders and syndromes. A project that would touch on inherited genes and chromosome structures within human DNA, showing the biological factors that contribute to conditions such as Down Syndrome.
Students would create a mural/sculpture/pamphlet that could be put up in the school/community to inform others of the biology behind these syndromes.
C. Experiment/Conclude– Testing how various factors affect asexual reproduction. This project would explore the different types of asexual reproduction, the pros and cons of the various types as well as factors that affect their viability.
Laboratory experiments would be used to test the factors and make conclusion about their effect on reproduction. The results would be recorded in a presentation or lab report.
